DESCRIPTION
Getting a tablet into a six year old with hayfever is its own problem, and it usually arrives at the worst moment. These dissolve on the tongue in seconds, so there is no swallowing and no water needed.
Each melt contains 10mg of bilastine, half the adult strength, and it is the same non-sedating antihistamine as the adult tablets. It relieves the symptoms of hayfever and allergy, and of urticaria: itchy watery eyes, sneezing, a running or itchy nose, itchy skin and hives.
For children 6 to 11 years weighing 20kg or more, one melt daily. Children 12 and over move to the 20mg tablet.
The timing rule is the same as the adult version and it matters just as much: on an empty stomach, an hour before food or two hours after, and not with fruit juice.
Gluten free, lactose free and sugar free. Thirty melts is a month at one a day, which is the size for a whole season rather than a flare.
