Which consultation should I book?

If you’re new to Matakana Pharmacy, we recommend starting with the 30-minute free consultation. If you’ve already worked with us, a 45-minute follow-up is usually best. For complex or long-standing concerns, a 90-minute comprehensive consultation allows more time to explore your health history in depth. If you’re unsure, book the free consult and we’ll guide you.

Is the free consultation really free?

The free consultation is for new customers only. If you’ve previously had a consultation with us, we recommend a follow up consultation.

What happens during a consultation?

Your practitioner will:
Listen to your health concerns and goals
Ask relevant background questions
Provide guidance on next steps, which may include supplements, testing, or a longer consultation

You’ll leave with clarity on what to do next.

Do you offer urgent consultations?

Yes. We offer urgent consultations for time-sensitive concerns, including weekday and weekend options. Availability is limited and varies by day.

What’s the difference between phone and in-person consultations?

Phone consultations are convenient and suitable for most concerns. In-person consultations are helpful if you prefer face-to-face care or need hands-on support.
Both follow the same professional standards of care.

How long are the consultations?

We offer several options:
  • 30 minutes (free consultation)
  • 45 minutes (follow-up or urgent consult)
  • 60 minutes (in-person consult)
  • 90 minutes (comprehensive consult, phone or in person)
Each option is designed for different needs.

Can I change or cancel my appointment?

Yes. You can cancel or reschedule your appointment up to 24 hours before your scheduled time. You will have the option to do so via your booking confirmation email Late cancellations or missed appointments may be charged in full.

What happens if I miss my appointment?

If you don’t attend or answer the phone at your scheduled time, this is treated as a no-show and the full consultation fee may apply.

Where are in-person consultations held?

In-person consultations take place at: Matakana Pharmacy, Shop 16, 2 Matakana Valley Road, Matakana.

What should I prepare before my consult?

We recommend:
  • Having a list of current supplements or medications
  • Thinking about your main health concerns and goals
  • Ensuring you’re available and uninterrupted for the full session

Can I book more than one consultation type?

Yes, but we usually recommend completing one consultation first so we can advise on the most appropriate next step.

I’m not sure which consult to book — what should I do?

That’s very common.
For new clients, start with the free consultation, and we’ll help you decide from there. For any existing clients we suggest a follow up consultation.

How do I know which supplements are right for me?

Choosing the right supplements depends on your health history, symptoms, diet, lifestyle, and medications. What works well for one person may be unnecessary or unsuitable for another.
Our consultations are designed to help you:
  • Understand what your body may actually need
  • Choose products that are appropriate for your individual situation

Can you help me choose supplements for my specific health concerns?

Yes. During a consultation, our practitioner can help assess your concerns and recommend supplements that may be appropriate for you, based on:
  • Your symptoms and goals
  • Current medications or supplements
  • Relevant health history
