Peel the tab off the back of the battery and discard it. Let the battery stand for about 15 seconds so the air can activate it, then fit it into your hearing aid with the flat positive side facing the plus sign. Leave the tab on until you are ready to use the battery. Open the battery door at night to save power.

Swallowing a button battery is a medical emergency. A swallowed battery can cause serious internal burns within two hours and can be fatal. Keep new and used batteries out of sight and reach of children and pets. If a battery has been swallowed or put into the nose or ear, go to an emergency department straight away, or call the National Poisons Centre on 0800 764 766. Do not pierce, crush, heat or burn batteries, and do not carry them loose with coins or keys. Store at room temperature, out of direct sunlight, and recycle used batteries through a battery collection point.
