Vetiver is a grass, which surprises people, because it smells like the ground rather than anything green.

The scent comes from the root, and it is dark, dry and faintly smoky with a cool edge that most incense botanicals lack. Australian-grown vetiver root here, pressed with Western Australian sandalwood.

The sandalwood is the warmth and the vetiver is the depth, and together they make something quieter than either alone. Where rose is immediate and agarwood is dramatic, this one barely announces itself. It just changes the air.
