DESCRIPTION
Warm, sweet and unmistakably liquorice, aniseed is one of the oldest aromatics in the cupboard and one of the least subtle. A single drop fills a room.
Dolphin Clinic steam distil theirs from the seed of Illicium verum grown in China, and it arrives as a middle note that sits underneath sharper winter oils rather than competing with them. Two drops in a vaporiser alongside eucalyptus or pine is the traditional way to use it when the weather turns.
It is a potent oil and the label says so. Use it sparingly, always well diluted on skin, and leave it out of the blend entirely if you are pregnant.
Bottled in New Zealand by a company that has been distilling, blending and selling aromatherapy oils here for more than thirty years.
