Why use a fabric bag instead of wrapping paper?

Paper is used once and binned, and most of it is foiled or laminated so it cannot be recycled. A fabric bag takes seconds to use, survives being opened, and comes back out for the next gift. It also looks better: a printed fabric bag with a ribbon reads as considered rather than as something done at 11pm with the tape running out.

What comes with the bag?

A long ribbon already attached, a gift tag and a decorative pin. That means no separate card to buy and nothing else to find. The tag and pin are chosen at random, so yours may differ from the one pictured.

Which size do I need?

Small suits jewellery, a candle, soap, socks or a gift card. Medium is the everyday size for a book, a bottle or a jumper. Large takes a boxed gift or the awkward shape that refuses to wrap. Exact measurements vary slightly by fabric and are listed on each product where the maker publishes them.

How does it close?

With the ribbon. Put the gift in, draw the ribbon up and tie a bow. No tape, no scissors, and no wrestling with a toy that is the wrong shape for paper.

How many times can I reuse one?

Many. They are sewn to be used again rather than to survive a single opening. When they are not wrapping something they work as storage for jewellery, small toys, keepsakes or travel odds and ends.

Are the prints limited?

Yes. The fabrics are bought in small amounts, so each print runs to a handful of bags. When a print sells out it usually does not come back.

Can I use them as party or goodie bags?

That is one of the things the small size is made for. A set of coordinating bags for a children's party looks far better than paper bags and the guests keep them.

Who makes them?

Denise and Vayomi, at home in Christchurch. It is a small business and every bag is sewn by hand, which is also why slight variations between bags are normal.
