DESCRIPTION
Deep reddish-amber in the jar, this native honey carries a smooth, malty sweetness with clear notes of caramel and burnt toffee, richer and less floral than a standard table honey. It comes from rewarewa, the New Zealand honeysuckle tree, which flowers through the remote ngahere of the Far North.
Harvested in small batches by a Maori-owned whanau operation in Awanui, Northland, it spreads easily over warm toast and holds its character through baking, marinades and porridge.
