Cleanser first, then the Toning Lotion or Phyto-Calm Facial Mist, then a serum, then a treatment gel, then your moisturiser. Sunscreen goes on last in the morning, and the DD Cream or Phyto Fluid Foundation over the top of that.

Hydralite is the lightest and suits oily or combination skin. Essential Daily Moisturiser is the middle weight for daytime. Evening Moisturiser is richer, for night. Phyto Rich Moisturiser is the richest, for dry, dehydrated or mature skin. Lipid Plus Recovery is a waterless balm for the driest weeks, used on its own or mixed into a moisturiser.

Kigelia africana is the sausage tree, a southern African tree whose fruit extract is used through this range. It appears in the cleansers, toners, gels, serums, moisturisers and sunscreen, alongside rooibos and Kalahari melon seed oil, which is what gives the range its common thread.

The cleansers and several of the treatment products are fragrance free. Others carry essential oils rather than added perfume, for example lavender, tangerine and rosemary in Lipid Plus Recovery, orange oil in the De-Age Hydration Mask and lemongrass in the SPF 50 body cream. The acid products, being the Vita-gel Mask, Skin Brightening Gel and Phyto-correct Serum, make skin more sensitive to sunlight, so wear sunscreen daily while you use them. Several products contain retinyl palmitate, a vitamin A, which is worth checking with your pharmacist if you are pregnant. The Marula Face Oil and Vitamin C Booster Oil contain nut-derived oils.

Not all of it. The Hydrating Collagen Eye Patches contain collagen and milk lipids, the DD Cream contains milk lipids, the De-Age Hydration Mask and Lipid Plus Recovery contain beeswax, and the Clear Touch Blemish Patches contain gelatin.
