DESCRIPTION
The trade-off with older antihistamines is that the ones that work tend to make you sleep. Bilastine is one of the newer non-sedating ones, and a study of driving performance found that 20mg did not affect it.
Labixten is used for the symptomatic relief of allergic rhinoconjunctivitis, seasonal and perennial, and of urticaria. In practice that means hayfever, itchy watery eyes, sneezing, a running or itchy nose, and itchy skin and hives.
One tablet daily for adults and children 12 years and over. It starts working within an hour and covers a full 24 hours, so a morning dose lasts the day.
The one thing to get right is timing: take it on an empty stomach, an hour before food or two hours after, and not with fruit juice. Food and juice both reduce how much is absorbed.
Gluten free, lactose free and sugar free. Thirty tablets is a month at one a day, which is the size to reach for through a hayfever season rather than for the odd flare.
