DESCRIPTION

The bag most home gardeners end up on once they have used the small one.

Neem granules are the seed cake left after the oil is pressed, crushed and bagged. Nothing is added: no fillers, no chemicals, no preservatives.

They go into the soil rather than onto the plant, which is the difference between the granules and the spray. Dug into a planting hole, raked into a bed, or spread over a lawn and watered in.

For new plants, a handful into the planting hole 15 to 20cm deep mixed with soil, and another on the surface around the base. For established plants, 50 to 80 grams per square metre raked lightly into the soil. For lawns, 50 grams per square metre after mowing, watered in.

About Native Neem

Native Neem grew out of Green Trading's market stall in Titirangi Village and became its own brand in 2017, dedicated to one plant.

Neem is used three ways here. The seed is cold pressed for oil, which is where the azadirachtin sits. The leaf is dried and milled to a powder. The seed cake left after pressing becomes granules for the soil. Nothing is solvent extracted, which is what lets the oil hold organic certification.

From that one tree the range covers people, pets and plants: soap, hair and body wash, cream, lip balm and tooth powder; pet shampoo, spray, paw balm and sunscreen; and for the garden, insecticide, granules and a seaweed tonic.
