Ashwagandha is one of the most widely sold herbs in the world, which is exactly why the quality varies so much. Two capsules can carry the same herb name and differ tenfold in what is actually in them, because what counts is the withanolide content and most labels never mention it.
This one is built on Shoden, a branded extract standardised to 35% withanolide glycosides. That figure is the whole point of the product. Most ashwagandha extracts sit at a small fraction of it, so a modest 120mg capsule here carries the withanolide content of a far larger dose of ordinary extract.
Shoden is a 40:1 concentrate drawn from both the root and the leaf of Withania somnifera. Ashwagandha itself has a long history of use in Ayurvedic practice.
