Iron has a reputation, and it is mostly about tolerability. Conventional iron salts are notorious for being hard on the stomach, which is why so many bottles get abandoned half full.
This one uses Lipofer, a microencapsulated ferric pyrophosphate. The microencapsulation is the whole point of the format: the iron is wrapped rather than loose, and the manufacturer's position is that this reduces the nausea, gastric irritation and constipation typically associated with iron supplements.
A dose of four sprays provides 49mg of ferric pyrophosphate as Lipofer, delivering 14mg of elemental iron. Strawberry flavoured, sweetened with xylitol and sorbitol.
Adults and children over one year: four sprays daily, any time of day, best on an empty stomach. No water needed.
A 60ml bottle, which is three times the size of the vitamin sprays in the range.
Each dose of 4 sprays contains:
Ferric pyrophosphate (as Lipofer) | 49mg
Providing elemental iron | 14mg
Xylitol (sweetener) | 200mg
Sorbitol (sweetener) | 200mg
Potassium sorbate (preservative) | 0.166%
