Pectin is a soluble fibre found in the pith of citrus fruit peel. In its natural form the molecules are too large to be absorbed, so they stay in the digestive tract.

PectaSol-C is modified so the molecules are small enough to be absorbed as well. It is the ingredient EcoNugenics is best known for, and the basis of PectaClear.

HonoPure is honokiol, a compound from the bark of the magnolia tree, purified to 98 percent and extracted with supercritical carbon dioxide rather than solvents.

Magnolia bark has a long history in traditional Chinese and Japanese herbal practice for calm and rest. HonoPure can cause drowsiness in some people, so it is best tried in the evening first.

Medicinal mushrooms such as reishi, turkey tail, maitake and lion's mane have a long history in traditional Asian practice, and Dr Eliaz uses them across much of the range to support normal immune function.

They are grown on a herbal base, which the brand describes as herbally enhanced.

Several EcoNugenics formulas, including ProstaCaid, BreastDefend and PectaClear, list both a maintenance amount and a higher amount. The maintenance amount is the everyday one.

The higher amounts are intended for use under a practitioner's direction, and at the top end some exceed New Zealand limits for particular nutrients. That is part of what the consultation is for.
