The fruiting body is the mushroom itself. Mycelium is the root-like network it grows from, and in supplements it is usually grown on grain, which cannot be separated out afterwards, so grain starch ends up in the capsule alongside the fungal material.

That matters because beta-glucans, the most studied fraction, sit largely in the fruiting body, and because compounds like the triterpenes in reishi are barely produced by mycelium at all. Everything in this range except Super Cordyceps is made from the fruiting body with no mycelium and no grain carrier.

Because cordyceps is the exception where the mycelium is the researched material. Super Cordyceps uses the Cs-4 strain, which most of the published cordyceps work has used.

It is also not the grain-grown kind. Cs-4 is fermented in liquid and then hot water extracted, so there is no grain starch carried through into the tablet.

Concentration and extraction. Super Lion's Mane blends a hot water extract with the whole fruiting body and is the general purpose version. Lion's Mane Amyloban is a standardised alcohol extract, Amycenone, made only from the fruiting body and standardised for amyloban and hericenones.

D-Fraction is a proteoglucan isolated from maitake: beta-1,3 and beta-1,6 glucans bound to protein, standardised and prepared so it can be taken by mouth. It is the extract Mushroom Wisdom is best known for.

Pro 4X is the most concentrated tier of that line, and the tablets pair the purified PD-Fraction with whole maitake fruiting body powder.

It is there on purpose, not as a preservative. Mushroom Wisdom includes vitamin C in most of the Super range because, by the brand's account, it helps the polysaccharides be absorbed.

Because reishi's active compounds are not all soluble in the same thing. The polysaccharides come out in hot water and the triterpenes, including the ganoderic acids, need alcohol.

Running both extractions means each group ends up in the tablet. The reishi itself is grown on logs the traditional way rather than on sawdust blocks.
