First burn: let the wax melt all the way to the edge of the jar, which takes two to three hours. This sets the pool and stops the candle tunnelling later.

Every burn after that: trim the wick to about 5mm before lighting, and burn for no more than four hours at a time.

Stop using the candle once about 10mm of wax is left in the base.

Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep away from children, pets, draughts and anything that can catch fire. Burn on a heat resistant, level surface. The jar gets hot; do not move it while lit or while the wax is liquid. Keep the wax pool clear of wick trimmings and matches.
