Marjoram smells like a warm herb garden after rain: green, slightly camphorous, comforting rather than bright.
Origanum majorana, steam distilled from flowers and leaves in Egypt, sits as a middle note and holds a blend together without drawing attention to itself. It is one of the oils in Bronchial Benefit, Feminine Relief, Good Night and the Sports Massage oil.
Five drops per 10ml of carrier oil is the standard rate for massage work. Six in a diffuser for a room.
Avoid it during pregnancy.
Dolphin Clinic have used marjoram in their own formulations since the clinic days in the early 1990s, and the recipes have not changed much since.
