Senna has a long history of use in herbal preparations, and Actor Pharmaceuticals builds it into a small coated tablet with plum extract for flavour. The 30 count is the standard box, the one most households settle on.

Taken at bedtime it gives predictable overnight results, usually inside 8 to 12 hours, with no mixing, measuring or unpleasant aftertaste to deal with.

Instructions
Adults and children over 12 years: take 1 or 2 tablets before bedtime. Prunelax works in 8 to 12 hours. It can be taken for up to 7 consecutive days.

Before using laxatives, drink plenty of water and increase your fibre intake. If symptoms persist, seek medical advice. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your healthcare professional before taking laxatives. Do not use when abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea are present. Prolonged use of any laxative is undesirable and may cause serious bowel problems. Does not help with weight loss. Excessive use can be harmful. Use in children under 12 years is not recommended. Do not use if the blister pack is broken. Keep out of reach of children. Store below 30 degrees Celsius.

How long does order processing take?

Once you have placed your order, our team aims to process it as quickly as possible.

Orders are processed as efficiently as possible but can take up to 2-5 working days in certain circumstances* (excluding weekends and public holidays).

Please note that during busy periods, such as promotional or sale events, processing times may be slightly longer due to increased order volumes.

If we are waiting for additional information or a response from you regarding your order, this time will not be included in the processing timeframe.

*In cases where stock transfer is required.

 

What is your shipping policy?

For New Zealand: We offer free tracked shipping on all non-rural orders over 75NZD*. *Rural delivery surcharge of 5NZD may apply. 
 
For Australia: We offer free tracked DHL EXPRESS shipping over 200AUD.
 
For remaining countries we are working to achieve better rates but for the moment shipping is DHL, EPS or FEDEX Services shipping for $120NZD.

Shipping to USA is not available at this time.

Click and Collect is also available to those local shoppers. Please allow some time to prepare your order. You will receive a pick up notification email once your order is ready for collection.

Customs, Duties & Fees
Please note that we are not liable for any customs delays, procedures, tariffs, or additional fees that may be imposed by the destination country’s authorities. Any charges, such as duties or import taxes, are the responsibility of the recipient and may be due at the time of delivery. We recommend contacting your local customs office if you have any questions regarding applicable duties and taxes.

Courier Delays & Delivery Times
While we endeavor to ship orders promptly using reliable courier services, delivery times can vary, and delays can occasionally occur beyond our control. We cannot be held responsible for unforeseen courier delays, including those caused by weather, logistical issues, or public holidays. If your order is taking longer than expected, we recommend tracking it using the details provided or contacting the courier directly for further assistance.

We will notify you if a delay is anticipated. Any order cancellations within the allotted shipping time frame (4 business days from order placement) will incur a 10% administration fee. If you wish to find out how far away an order is please email us on admin@matakanapharmacy.com with the order number in the subject line and customer services will reply within 1 business day.

Holiday Deliveries
Deliveries over the Christmas and New Year period is usually subject to delays due to our logistical partners being closed on weekends and public holidays which in turn creates a backlog. They also often have delivery drivers on leave and function at 50-70% driver capacity. Please anticipate delays of up to 5 additional working days during this busy holiday season

Warehouse Hours: Warehouse will be closed from 25/12/25 (Christmas Day) until 4/1/26 please expect delayed delivery and dispatch during the holiday season.

7 Day Rule

You may return any unopened item that is still in its original packaging to Matakana Pharmacy online store within SEVEN days of receiving of your order (as recorded by the courier) for an exchange for another product or, under special circumstances, a refund (see below).

Please note that a restocking fee of 10% of the order price will be deducted from any refund issued under this policy, except where the return is made under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (CGA), in which case no restocking fee will apply. Exclusions apply to medications, functional tests and supplements, as we cannot guarantee how these items have been stored once they have left our care. We can process returns and refunds only for items purchased from Matakana Pharmacy. If the returned item/s are not damaged or in an unacceptable state as a reason for return then this will not be accepted for exchange/credit even if this is of no fault of your own (courier mistake/damage).

Please be aware that return courier charges are the responsibility of the consumer, except where the return is required under the CGA. You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper; however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).

 

Consumers Guarantee/Refund

We will meet all our obligations under the Consumer Guarantees Act. Items that are returned more than SEVEN days after delivery and/or are unable to be resold as new cannot be exchanged or refunded. We cannot accept items for exchange that are returned after SEVEN days. Please note that we are not obligated to refund items unless they are defective or damaged. 
You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).

 

Refund of Shipping Costs

Please note we will only refund shipping costs if the return is a result of our error and not by third party (for example damaged by a courier/shipping). A full refund will be given in this instance. If you are returning because item is no longer required, or ordered in error you may be asked to pay the re-shipping fee for exchanges alongside any other additional costs.

Clearance/sale Items

Please note that we are unable to accept back clearance stock or items purchased on sale for exchange or refund because you have ordered the wrong item, or changed your mind, so please choose carefully. We will however refund/replace your clearance item if it is faulty or damaged in transit from leaving our premises.
