Bois de rose is wood that smells faintly of flowers: soft, sweet, warm and woody, with a rosy top that never quite becomes rose.
Steam distilled from the wood. It is a middle note and an unusually easy one to blend, which is why Dolphin Clinic reach for it repeatedly: it is in Exotic, Posy of Roses, Sheer Bliss, Springs Awakening, Wellbeing, Worry Ease and the Rose massage oil.
That is seven formulations out of a range of thirty-odd, which is the closest thing the blending room has to a house note.
Five drops per 10ml of carrier, or six in a diffuser.
Bottled in New Zealand, and one of the quiet favourites of the range.
